Counselor's Corner

Greetings, Eagles!

My name is Kimberley Chauvin, and I am the school counselor here at John L. Ory. I have been a part of the education system for over 15 years – initially as a teacher and currently as a counselor. I am a certified school counselor, a Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor, and am a member of the American Counseling Association, Louisiana Counseling Association, and Chi Sigma Iota National Counseling Society.

Part of my role as the school counselor is to improve student success for ALL students by implementing a comprehensive school counseling program. As a vital member of the school leadership team, I plan to foster a school culture of success by improving equity and access, achievement, and opportunities for all students. I will strive to help all students apply academic achievement strategies, manage emotions, apply interpersonal skills, and plan for high school and postsecondary options.

You can also expect me to provide individual student academic planning and goal setting, school counseling classroom lessons based on student success standards, short-term counseling to students, referrals for long-term support, collaboration with families, teachers, administrators, and the community for student success, advocacy for students at individual education plan meetings and other student-focused meetings, and data analysis to identify student issues, needs, and challenges.

I am excited for the 2023-2024 school year and am eager to work with JLO scholars and each family as we Move Ory from Good to Great!

Sincerely,

Kimberley R. Chauvin, M.Ed., PLPC
